About the Martinborough Museum
The building housing the museum was designed by well known architect Charles Natusch, who was famous for grand country houses throughout the lower North Island. It was built to house a public lending library.
When the library moved out 80 years later the building was left empty for several years until a group of keen locals converted it into the museum you see today. Most of the contents were donated by the community.
The museum is administered by a charitable trust and staffed entirely by volunteers.
